Flying with a 6mo soon — share your survival tips please!

Booked our first long-ish flight (5h) with Zoe when she's around 6 months and I'm equal parts excited and terrified haha. Mainly worried about ears during take-off/landing and keeping her chill in a confined seat. Anyone done this around this age — what actually saved you? Bassinet seat worth fighting for anot?

Bassinet seat 100% worth it if your airline gives the bulkhead row — you get floor space and somewhere to put her down. We measured: our 6mo was 7.2kg and still fit fine. Book it the moment you can, they go fast.

For ears, just feed (latch or bottle) during take-off and landing — the sucking equalises pressure. If she's asleep during ascent, honestly I'd let her sleep, don't wake her just to feed lah.

Gate-checked the stroller, used a soft carrier through security so hands free. Pack 2x more diapers than you think + a full change of clothes for BOTH of you (the leak will find you mid-flight, trust me).

Veteran tip after 3 kids: lower your own expectations and you'll have a great flight. New toys they've never seen (wrapped, dish out one per hour), a muslin to block light for naps, and don't stress if she cries — every parent on that plane has been there. You got this 💛

update: we did it!! Bassinet row was a lifesaver, she napped 2 of the 5 hours in it. Ears were a non-issue — latched on take-off, slept through landing. The wrapped-toys-one-per-hour trick from mummyof3_sg = genius, bought us so much peace. Thank you all 🙏
